According to Brazilian outlet Radio Grenal, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has personally called Grêmio attacker Éverton to persuade him to join City over rivals Manchester United.

Grêmio President Romildo Bolzan Junior recently claimed that the 22-year-old has an €80m release clause in his contract.

Radio Grenal’s report went on to say that while no concrete offer has been made, Éverton is said to be ‘thrilled’ by the thought of playing for the Premier League champions.

Moments after Grêmio’s 2-0 win over Chapecoense on Sunday, Éverton was directly asked about a move to England on SporTV.

“I’m going through an exceptional phase, and we know how hard it is when clubs from England look at Brazilian players, for their quality.

“Let’s see what happens at the end of the season, wait until it is over, and see what’s best both for me and Gremio.”

Earlier this year, a report from Brazilian outlet UOL Esporte suggested that City have been tracking Éverton since he was 16 years old.
