On Monday, Flamengo’s first-team took to the pitch for the first time in 2020, coming back from a 1-0 deficit to win 3-1 courtesy of a trio of late goals from Pedro, Gabigol, and Bruno Henrique.

Pedro, along with Michael, made his debut and says finally stepping on the pitch with Flamengo marked a personal dream come true.

“I’m very happy to have helped my team with a goal. But, of course, the important thing is our collective efforts.

“The team did very well from the first minute. The goal was missing and, when it came, the floodgates opened so we could celebrate together.

“I hope this year will be a very successful year. The match was rewarding for me, very exciting.

“I was there on the field, watching the crowd sing, and I remembered when I was a little boy and had the dream of being a football player.

“And now I can be here, in the Maracanã, making a dream come true.”

Flamengo will look to clinch their place in the Taça Guanabara semi-finals this Saturday with a win over Madureira.

A huge crowd is expected at the Maracanã, with 42,000 tickets already having been sold for the match.
