Paulo Dybala didn’t exactly shine on international duty for Argentina these past few weeks. He failed to get off the bench against both Peru and Ecuador as his country rode Lionel Messi’s wings to a place in the World Cup.
But Mauro Icardi didn’t exactly set the world alight either, playing only 14 minutes during the break.
Yet, Italian bookmakers have made Dybala their favourite for the title of Capocannoniere, or Serie A’s Golden Boot. The top spot was previously occupied by Icardi, who was the bookies’ bet before the season started.
Dybala’s ten goals currently lead the Serie A scoring charts. Ciro Immobile is second on nine goals, while Edin Dzeko and Dries Mertens both have seven. Icardi only has six, so far.
All of which means that Dybala is now 3.75-1 to win claim the scoring crown. Immobile, Mertens and Icardi are quoted at odds of 5-1, while Dzeko is at 6-1.
