José Mourinho has long been on the hot seat at Manchester United and the club currently find themselves in eighth place, 18 points behind leaders and rivals Manchester City.

Despite an astonishing record of 104 wins, 29 draws, and 16 losses in 149 matches with Real Madrid, Manchester United legend Paul Scholes isn’t convinced Zizou would be the right man to take over for José Mourinho.

“Is Zidane the right man, though?” said Scholes on BT Sport.

“He went into Real Madrid, who had a group of ready-made winners already.

“This is a totally different job; he would have to rebuild confidence with a squad that isn’t quite performing.

“He went to Real Madrid with so many great players, it was still difficult, but this would be a whole rebuilding job.”

In just two-and-a-half years at Real Madrid, Zinedine Zidane had one of the most successful runs in football history – winning three Champions League titles in addition to a La Liga title.
