Paul Pogba 'agrees terms' with Real Madrid | OneFootball

Paul Pogba has agreed a deal to join Real Madrid and will ask to leave Manchester United this summer.

At least, that’s according to Spanish outlet AS, who report on Saturday that Pogba has agreed a contract with Madrid worth an eye-watering €12m-per-year after tax.

Last week, AS reported that the French midfielder’s wage demands could have been an obstacle in the way of a potential move to the Bernabeu given he apparently earns €17m-per-year at United.

But AS now say that Pogba in fact only earns a modest €10m-per-year (€2m less than team-mate Alexis Sánchez) and wouldn’t even be Los Blancos highest earner, given Gareth Bale is said to be taking home €15m-per-year after tax.

The report goes onto say that the World Cup winner has accepted the Red Devils won’t be competing for major silverware soon and has decided he would like to link up with his compatriot Zinedine Zidane.

Pogba is also said to be hoping to avoid a protracted summer transfer saga and would like the deal to be done as soon as possible.

When asked about the 26-year-old in recent weeks, Madrid boss Zidane has made no secret of his admiration for the midfielder.

“I’m a big fan, that’s nothing new. I know him personally. When he finishes at United, why wouldn’t he come here?” Zidane has been quoted as saying.

But speaking ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash with Chelsea, United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was pretty adamant that the club’s record signing will be staying put this summer.

“You can’t guarantee anything in football but yes, I think Paul is going to be here,” said Solskjaer.

“I can assure you he is very determined to succeed at Manchester United.”
