A sensational – some might say nonsense – story from the Italian media on Thursday has claimed that Paul Pogba had ‘agreed’ to join Paris Saint-Germain on deadline day.

The World Cup winner’s late switch to the French capital however, was supposedly scuppered because Neymar did not complete his own move to Barcelona.

Yes, that’s right.

Calciomercato have reported that Pogba had ‘agreed personal terms’ with PSG and stood to rake in €450,000-per-week at the Parc des Princes.

There is no indication from Calciomercato as to how much PSG were willing to pay Manchester United for the midfielder.

But they do say that the move was ready to go right until the last minute on September 2.

Ultimately it did not happen though, because Neymar’s rumoured transfer to Camp Nou could not be completed due to the Liga side’s lack of cash.

Look, don’t shoot the messenger.
