L’Equipe claims that Patrick Vieira, who’s been at the helm in New York City FC since 2016, has agreed to become Nice’s manager.

Vieira has been linked to Arsenal since Arsène Wenger announced that he was stepping down at the end of the season. However, a report in The Sun points out that the French manager got frustrated with the Gunners after holding ‘disappointing talks’.

The 1998 World Cup winner has previously denied that he’ll be leaving NYCFC. Vieira has reportedly dismissed offers in the past from interested French clubs in his services, such as Nantes and Rennes.

News on Vieira’s supposedly signing with Nice broke out less than 24 hours after it was announced that Lucien Favre was leaving the French side to take the Borussia Dortmund job.

Under Favre, Nice finished third in Ligue 1 in 2016-17 and in eight place in 2017-18.

Vieira’s NYCFC is currently one point shy of MLS and Eastern Conference leader, Atlanta United.
