Pablo Zabaleta has offered a damning assessment of West Ham’s season in the wake of their 2-0 defeat by Everton.

The Hammers were well beaten at the London Stadium in a game which Manuel Pellegrini described as the “worst performance of the year” from his side.

The result leaves Pellegrini’s men 11th in the Premier League and Zabaleta has expressed his frustration at what has been an inconsistent season.

“I am not happy at all because if you look at the season so far, we have not been consistent enough,” the Argentine told the London Evening Standard.

“We have had three or four bad performances against teams around us.

“There are five teams looking for that seventh position and it is all about one or two points difference between them.

“We have lost so many opportunities to be in that seventh place and it shows the weak mentality that we have probably got and which we need to improve looking forward.”

West Ham will have to wait another seven days for the next game, when they travel to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on 8 April.
