After completing his first training session with the squad, Oswaldo Alanís was officially presented as the newest Chivas player for the upcoming 2019 Apertura tournament.

The 23-time Mexican international returns to the club on a free contract just one year after letting his contract expire and moving to Spain.

The 30-year-old was subsequently released by Getafe in August and signed on at second-division side Real Oviedo, where he made 24 starts and helped lead his team to an eighth-placed finish.

Alanís, who featured 67 times for Chivas between 2015 and 2018, revealed his excitement over coming back to Guadalajara.

“I am very happy for everything that was done to help me return and everything that Chivas has given me.

“This is a sample of the love I have had for them and what could have happened.

“I come with more experience, much desire, things that I have learned, and the motivation to help Chivas to be where they deserve and where we all want.

“I went (to Europe) for a dream, you idealise things as a footballer and as a person.

“When you live you realize that there are stages, processes, and life. It’s going to take you where you least expect it but it’s for something good.

“Maybe we do not realise how difficult it is for a Mexican to be in Europe, for the extra-community issue, for the salary, you need to show a lot to excel.

“This new challenge at Chivas: I see it as greater than what I was doing.”

Alanís is likely to be an immediate starter and will need to play a crucial role if Chivas are to avoid relegation this coming season.
