Major League Soccer club Orlando City SC are preparing to move on from one of their top transfer targets.

After making little headway with Flamengo midfielder Diego Ribas, OCSC are apparently running out of patience.

The veteran midfielder was recently in Orlando with his club side to contest and win Florida Cup 2019.

Yahoo Esportes writes that the Lions have withdrawn a three-year contract offer to the 33-year-old.

Reports claim that Diego initially agreed to the framework of Orlando’s offer before returning to Brazil to negotiate an extension with Flamengo.

The midfielder remains under contract with the rubro-negro through the summer.

Orlando wanted the player to request a speedy resolution of his outstanding contract with Flamengo, but Diego was icy at best and mentioned other clubs in Brazil that would be interested in his services. As a result, it seems OCSC are moving on.

Yahoo Esportes quotes an Orlando executive:  “We’re done waiting. Our offer is off the table because we cannot wait and we will not get into a bidding war. You can’t think twice about an offer that involves a life project like the one we did.”

During coverage of Florida Cup, Diego was asked about transfer rumours and specifically his links with the local club.

“Regardless of what happens I’ll always respect Flamengo. I would never make a decision and not communicate with the club.”

“But the offers are here and I’ve been honest about it since the end of last season. I started negotiating with Flamengo a few days ago and I hope it gets resolved at the right moment. We’ll see.”

While Diego may be not plying his trade in Florida, the arrival of Giorgian De Arrascaeta from Cruzeiro may crowd him out of the Flamengo midfield.
