It’s safe to say the honeymoon is over between América fans and Guillermo Ochoa.
Following yet another disappointing result behind the goal for América, Ochoa was booed by fans whenever the player touched the ball during the 2-2 draw last night.
Despite the slow start, manager Miguel Herrera, who is also in the hot seat, defended his keeper.
“Fans are like that, they demand more of this team,” added Herrera. “Obviously we should support our goalkeeper no matter how much they boo.”
Since joining América, and becoming the club’s starter, Ochoa has played in six matches, losing one, and earning draws in five others.
“We tried to win,” added Herrera. “Their goalkeeper made a great save on time to give them a great result, this is football.”
