Raúl Jiménez has been one of Wolves’ best performers since they acquired him on loan from Benfica last season, which convinced them he’s been good enough to sign to a club-record deal.

The Mexico international has been wearing a brace for quite some time now, and manager Nuno Espirito Santo revealed that he’s been playing through a fractured wrist.

“He has to protect himself if there is a problem there.”

Jiménez then helped Mexico to a Gold Cup triumph, going the full 90 minutes as they defeated the United States 1-0 to claim their eighth continental title.

The 28-year-old has already scored six goals in eight matches in all competitions this season and the Wolves gaffer believes the best is yet to come.

“He’s doing well, he’s helping the team and we know with heavy legs he still goes. This is the spirit with all the players.

“It’s the philosophy we tried to embrace since day one. The way we play to the competition is the most important thing.

“What they want is to play and put everything we do here on the pitch.”

Wolves will host Torino in their Europa League play-off second leg after defeating them 3-2 in Italy last week.
