Niko Kovač confirms when €19m man will arrive at Bayern Munich | OneFootball

Bayern Munich’s squad is set to be boosted next month by the arrival of Alphonso Davies.

The Bundesliga champions agreed a deal worth up to €18.8m for the winger back in the summer, with an agreement that he would move to the club at the end of the MLS season.

Davies scored twice on Sunday as he played his final game for Vancouver Whitecaps and will soon travel to Munich to meet up with his new team-mates.

Speaking to the media at a press conference on Monday, Bayern head coach Niko Kovač confirmed the teenager will immediately join up with the first team.

“If you spend so much money on a young player, you don’t put him in the second team,” Kovač told reporters.

“He will be with us straight away, that’s why we’ve signed him. He’ll join the team after the international break.”

Davies is expected to play for Canada when they face St. Kitts and Nevis on 19 November.

Straight after that, he will be on his way to his new club.

Davies, who turns 18 on Friday, cannot be registered to make his Bayern Munich debut until January, so will have two months to get used to his surroundings before a potential Bundesliga debut against Hoffenheim when the Bundesliga’s winter break comes to an end.
