Former Leicester and Derby boss Nigel Pearson is reportedly one of the names being considered for the Sunderland job.
The Black Cats are without a manager after Jack Ross was sacked earlier this week after 18 months in the post.
A number of tacticians have been linked with the club since then, with Wycombe’s Gareth Ainsworth thought to be in pole position.
But now the Sun claim that Pearson is also being ‘considered’ by owner Stewart Donald, with a decision thought to be made some time next week.
Pearson has been unemployed since February when he was sacked by Belgian outfit OH Leuven.
