Club América will be missing Nicolás Castillo for the first leg of their upcoming Liguilla quarter-final.

Castillo sustained a tear in his right quad during the 5-0 victory over Veracruz on November 8.

He has been receiving treatment on the injury for the past two weeks but it has been confirmed that the striker will not recover in time for the first game of the two-legged tie.

“It’s going very well. Let’s see if he arrives for the second game,” América boss Miguel Herrera said.

Fortunately for Castillo, his injury came at a relatively quiet time of the season.

América concluded their Apertura campaign before the international break with that win over Veracruz, and their only action since was a 2-1 defeat in a friendly against Monterrey last Saturday.

They now must wait for the conclusion of the Apertura this weekend to find out who they will face in the play-offs.
