We’re only two and a half weeks into 2018 but we already have a candidate for this year’s Puskás award.
The goal comes courtesy of Neymar, who paid tribute to his idol Ronaldinho with a ‘Dinho-esque run through half of the Dijon team in Paris Saint-Germain’s 8-0 win on Wednesday.
The 25-year-old collected the ball near the half-way line, seemingly posing no threat at all.
But he saw a tiny opening and scrambled away from four Dijon defenders before charging through towards the box, skipping across to his right and finishing precisely from the top of the area.
The golazo was Neymar’s third from a four-goal haul, with a pretty spectacular free-kick also in the mix.
It was a phenomenal performance from the Brazilian but the result is unlikely to convince the doubter’s that Ligue 1 is a serious division.
But when we get to enjoy goals like these, who really cares?
