We’re counting down the list of Newcastle’s 10 greatest jerseys of all-time and have reached the podium.
In at number three is this beauty …
There was no way of not including the jersey worn by Newcastle the last time they won a major trophy, even if it was in 1969.
That came in the Fairs Cup (or old Europa League if you will) and is a reminder that sometimes simplicity works best when it comes to jerseys.
They wore this jersey for four years until 1973 but it is best remembered for being worn when they made their mark on the continental stage in the last ’60s.
There is little else to say about this one really given its design – all about the black and white stripes which make the club famous.
Check back in tomorrow when we will reveal number two.
