Newcastle are reportedly ready to reward Matty Longstaff with a new, long-term contract following his dream debut against Manchester United.

The teenage brother of Sean made his first senior appearance for the Magpies before the international break, netting the only goal of the game as Steve Bruce’s side beat Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men at St James’ Park.

And now the Daily Mail have revealed that such was the impression he made in that victory, that the club are already in talks with his agent about an extension.

The 19-year-old is thought to be keen to stay in the north east but has yet to agree terms with his boyhood side. However, the club are confident that a deal can be struck, tying the midfielder down to at least 2024.

Longstaff is likely to keep his place in the Newcastle starting XI this coming weekend, starting alongside his brother for their trip to Chelsea.
