Borussia Dortmund are prepared to sell out-of-favour striker Maximilian Philipp this month and have already turned down a loan offer from fellow Bundesliga side Stuttgart.
Though it’s unclear whether or not Dortmund would consider a loan offer with an obligation to buy, Philipp’s agent has made it clear that his client needs immediate first-team football after he suffered a dislocated patellar tendon last season.
Newcastle cannot currently afford to buy the €21m-rated Philipp outright, however, ChonicleLive report that Rafa Benítez and Newcastle could make an approach to borrow the player in an attempt to avoid relegation.
Hannover and Besiktas have also been linked to the player but have yet to make an official approach.
The 24-year-old has featured 15 times for Dortmund in all competitions this season, however, he has only played 22 minutes since October.
