After making just 12 Serie A starts this season, João Mário appears to no longer be a part of Luciano Spalletti’s plans.
Now, the 43-time Portuguese international midfielder could be making a return to England.
According to reports out of Italy, Newcastle have been offered a chance to sign the 26-year-old and could be available for around £17m – less than half the amount Inter paid Sporting for his services in 2016.
João Mário had been linked to Everton to re-unite with former Sporting manager Marco Silva, but the Toffees boss denied his side were interested in bringing him in.
In 69 games with Inter, the Euro 2016 winner has scored four goals and added 15 assists.
