Newcastle will adopt a strategy to sign young players with a high sell-on value and it appears they have turned to Ligue 1 for a promising midfielder.
According to L’Equipe, Newcastle have made contact with Monaco over 19-year-old Mehdi Zerkane.

The winger would be considered to be a future prospect and expected to either play for the youth team or go out on loan.
Zerkane has yet to make a first-team appearance but made 10 appearances in the UEFA Youth League, scoring two goals and adding an assist.
Two Ligue 1 sides are also said to be interested in Zerkane.
Zerkane’s contract expires at the end of this summer, but Newcastle would be expected to pay a small amount for development compensation.
