Scott Sinclair made his first appearance in roughly six weeks on Wednesday as Celtic rolled over Partick Thistle 5-0 in the Scottish League Cup quarter-final.

Goals from Vakoun Issouf Bayo, Tom Rogic, and an Olivier Ntcham brace put the Hoops far out in front before Sinclair came off the bench to score his second goal of the season just 10 minutes after coming on in only his fifth appearance of the season – all of which have been as a substitute.

In Neil Lennon’s post-match press conference, he insisted that Sinclair still has a big role to play at the club.

“I’m delighted and I told the players I am so happy with them. We rested a few and the boys who came in excelled.

“On paper these games look easy but they aren’t. We wanted them to find a little bit more in the second half and they did that.

“There were a few exceptional performances and it is an excellent win. The most important thing is being in the semi-final.

Scott Sinclair is still very much part of the squad. We have seen a good reaction from him. He isn’t a sulker and his body language in training is improving all the time.

“He came on and made a difference and scored and looked strong.”

Celtic will face Hibs in the semi-finals in November, with Rangers and Hearts taking part in the other semi.
