Christopher Jullien has had a rather subdued start to his Celtic career following a £7m move from Toulouse.

He has so far only featured briefly in pre-season outings and played no part in the Hoops’ first two Champions League games.

Despite Neil Lennon having to play Nir Bitton at centre-back and move Kristoffer Ajer to right-back, Jullien remained an unused substitute.

The manager remained elusive on whether or not the Frenchman will be thrown in during midweek’s European clash with Nomme Kalju.

“It is a bit of a makeshift back four right now but thankfully we negotiated the first round,” Lennon said, quoted by the Daily Record.

“I’m delighted with the players so far. Nir has been comfortable in defence but I prefer him in midfield.

“He can really kick on this season, he has missed a lot of football but I’ve got high hopes for him.

“With Jullien, he has only played 50 minutes of football since May. He’s only been around for two or three weeks.

“So there is still a bit of rust for him. He’ll be fitter and sharper after another week of training.

“Whether or not he starts the next Euro game is something we’ll have to gauge as we go along.”

Jullien most recently played 57 minutes last weekend in the Bhoys’ 0-0 friendly draw at home against Rennes.
