Nabil Fekir’s agent has confirmed that there were other reasons for his clients move to Liverpool collapsing – not just injury concerns.

Fekir was expected to join the Reds in a €55m deal, before it was called off at the last minute due to apparent worries over his knee problems.

Images of the Lyon captain in his new colours began to circulate on social media, and Jean-Pierre Bernes admits they were real despite official denials.

“It is not about staying here,” he told L’Equipe. “But one day we will know the real circumstances that prevented his move to Liverpool.

“The knee problem was a part of it, but not only that. He had passed a medical, done photos and interviews with the Reds shirt. You will see.”

Fekir has just one-year left on his current deal and is widely expected to leave Lyon this summer, with Barcelona and Chelsea said to be interested.
