Nabil Fekir’s move to Liverpool is not completely dead, with the Premier League side returning to talks with Lyon.

According to the Mirror, Liverpool and Lyon are once again trying to thrash out a deal for the France forward. A €60m deal taking Fekir to Anfield was agreed shortly before the World Cup but collapsed after the Frenchman’s medical.

Unhappy with damage done to Fekir’s knee during a 2015 operation, Liverpool hoped to restructure their payments to Lyon even though they had already reached an agreement on the fee.

The move was called off and pictures even circulated suggesting Fekir had given his first interview ‘as a Liverpool player’ to LFCTV. This week’s unveiling of Naby Keïta seemed to back those images up and the story has now been confirmed by the report in the Mirror.

Now Liverpool do appear to be back in the running for Fekir, who was linked with a move to Manchester United over the weekend. The 25-year-old is currently on international duty and came off the bench in France’s 4-2 defeat of Argentina on Saturday.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas is known for being a stern negotiator with little patience but Liverpool are willing to re-enter talks as Jürgen Klopp reportedly sees Fekir as the missing piece to his midfield puzzle.
