During Celtic’s 5-0 demolition of Old Firm rivals Rangers back in 2018, Mikael Lustig famously stole a policeman’s hat as part of a goal celebration.

Though this incident made him popular amongst supporters, who even penned a song about the act, Police Scotland were not his biggest fans.

“The reaction was mostly positive but I was told the police in Scotland weren’t happy with me.

“I had to call them and apologise. After that everything went quiet.

“I enjoy having fun but clearly wearing a police hat was not something I planned before the match.”

Lustig started at right-back for Sweden in their 3-0 loss at Spain on Monday night and we can confirm he did not snatch any hats on the night.
