Celtic defender Mikael Lustig has revealed that he could leave the club this summer and return to Sweden.

The 32-year-old has confirmed that AIK Stockholm are keen on his services and could persuade him to join on a free come the end of the season.

“Has there been contact from AIK? Absolutely. They know about my situation,” he told reporters.

“We have not spoken about any contract but then I don’t really know how the rules are.

“I have been quite open that I might want to finish my career in Sweden.

“Clearly I think about it, but I have a lot to do. I will find out more this week.”

Lustig limped off in Sweden’s Euro 2020 qualifier with Romania on Sunday raising injury concerns for this weekend’s Old Firm derby.

The veteran is set to be assessed this week but is unlikely to be fit for their game against Norway on Tuesday.
