América fans are growing concerned following their 3-0 defeat against Pumas on Wednesday night.
The loss was their third in three pre-season matches following their uninspiring performances against Argentine giants Boca Juniors and River Plate.
However, manager Miguel Herrera doesn’t seem too bothered as he believes his side did well without their best players, who have been away at the Gold Cup and Copa América.
“Our pre-season was great. It was sensational. When you’re missing 10 or 11 players and youngsters have to fill in, you’re asking a lot.
“Fortunately [Carlos] Vargas played well. We hope to have the whole team by Sunday.
“I have one of the best teams in Mexico. Our athletes have been playing in top competitions and should be ready to go.”
2018 Apertura champions América and 2019 Clausura winners Tigres will battle in out on Sunday in the annual Campeón de Campeones.
