On Wednesday, Club América provided one of the surprises of the CONCACAF Champions League by routing Atlanta United 3-0 but manager Miguel Herrera was far from happy with the result.
Despite strikes from Leo Suárez, Henry Martín, and Bruno Valdez, Herrera believes that América should have put the tie to bed.
“We could have been better and with the options we had, we could get a better result,” Herrera said in his post-match press conference.
“The result is good and it should not be so demanding, but the team shows well and we must make it count.
“The opponent had to find a goal and had unbalanced players. They had to hurt us and we stopped and began to speculate. We could have scored three or four more goals in the time we scored one or two.”
Despite the second leg supposed to take place next week, the CONCACAF Champions League has been postponed due to the coronavirus.
