Club América manager Miguel Herrera has spoken out against the implementation of VAR in Liga MX again.
The Eagles fell 3-2 at elevation in Toluca on Sunday but made waves with his post-match comments about Arturo Brizio.
Brizio is the president of the referee’s commission in Mexico and had called out the flamboyant América coach for complaining about officiating decisions on television.
“The VAR is being misused.” Herrera said flatly after the match.
In light of those comments, and after another match in which Herrera felt his team were shortchanged, the former Mexico national team coach called out the league’s officiating institution.
“Let Arturo Brizio get to work, not talk about it. Talk to your people about it, not about us.”
“VAR is a disaster every week. It is an extraordinary tool and if you have any doubt, go to the television screen.”
With two matches remaining in the regular season, América’s place in the Liguilla is not secure.
“If he comes out to talk first, that is endured and what it takes is endured and that the commission does not come out to tell me not to talk, because he spoke first.”
The loss to Toluca meant that the team slipped down to seventh place after matchday 15 of the Clausura 2019.
