After the controversial statements of Miguel Herrera against VAR and Mexico’s head of officiating Arturo Brizio after the game against Toluca, the Mexican Football Federation reported that it has opened an investigation.

Through a statement, the Disciplinary Committee announced that it will analyse the evidence and documents provided of Herrera’s comments during his press conference.

“The Disciplinary Committee of the Mexican Football Federation reports that, based on the provisions of Article 74, 84, and 85 of the Sanctions Regulation, it opened an investigation procedure for statements issued in the press area by the Technical Director of Club América, Mr. Miguel Ernesto Herrera Aguirre, at the end of the match played on April 21, 2019, corresponding to Day 15 of the 2019 Liga MX Clausura between Toluca and America.”

Herrera lashed out against VAR and the president of the Arbitration Commission, saying that the technology is badly used and that Brizio is not working.

Their 3-2 loss at Toluca dropped the Eagles to seventh place and lead ninth-placed Xolos by just a single point in the fight for a Liguilla place with two games to play.
