Miguel Herrera expressed his desire to continue leading América after being eliminated by León in the 2019 Clausura semi-finals.

However, there could be a tempting offer coming his way in the next few months.

According to Mexican newspaper El Universal, the Chilean national team may consider going after Herrera should Reinaldo Rueda disappoint at this summer’s Copa America.

Though they are the two-time defending champions of South America’s premiere tournament, little can be said about the confidence Chile has in Rueda.

Since he took over for Juan Antonio Pizzi shortly after Chile failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup, Rueda has compiled a record of four wins, four draws, and four losses in 12 friendly matches, which includes losses against Romania, Peru, Costa Rica, and Mexico.

Since taking over América for the second time in summer 2017, Piojo has won a Liga MX and a Copa MX title and has led his side to at least the Liguilla semi-finals in all four short seasons.
