América boss Miguel Herrera is confident that Mexico goalkeeping legend and current Standard Liege shot-stopper Memo Ochoa will agree to return to where it all began.
It’s rumoured that the 34-year-old will be available for €3-4m.
“There is not much else that needs to be done, Memo can return if he accepts,” Herrera said in a press conference.
“But we have to agree with the club to which he belongs. We’ve knocked on the player’s door and the club gave us permission to speak with him to know what his circumstances are from an economic and emotional point of view.
“If certain things happen, we’ll have a goalkeeper who’s ready to go. Right now, we’ve got three options and we’ve made three different offers: There is option A, B, and C.”
Peñarol goalkeeper Kevin Dawson is now believed to be one of América’s alternatives while Herrera denied that Veracruz’s Pedro Gallese or Rosario Central’s Jeremias Ledesma were in the mix.
