The agent of Marc Roca has insisted the midfielder could still leave Espanyol this summer.

Bayern Munich have been strongly linked with the Spaniard but were reluctant to pay his full €40m release clause.

Juan Mata Rodríguez, the father of Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata, is Roca’s agent and has suggested there is still hope a transfer will go through.

“As before, very big European clubs are interested in Marc,” Mata Rodríguez explained to Sky. “A transfer is still possible, but so is a stay at Espanyol.

“We still have over a week.

“His release clause is €40m and that needs to be paid – there are things in life that you can’t negotiate.”

Bayern were said to have offered €18m for the 22-year-old earlier this summer, though the club denied those reports.

The German champions already have Thiago in Roca’s deep midfield position and added Michaël Cuisance from Borussia Mönchengladbach shortly after the start of the new Bundesliga season.
