Michael Keane believes Everton must improve their away form if they are to penetrate the Premier League’s top six.

The Toffees travel to face Bournemouth on Sunday having drawn and lost their first two away trips of the season.

But their 3-2 win at home to Wolves before the international break leaves them brimming with confidence and Keane is targeting all three points at the Vitality Stadium.

“We want to get an away victory as soon as possible. If we want to push into the top six or even higher, that is what we have to do,” the England defender told the club’s official website.

“We know we won’t win them all, but more often than not we have to go to the teams we want to be ahead of and win at these places. This is what we’ll try to do on Sunday.”

Marco Silva is still unable to call upon summer signing Jean-Philippe Gbamin due to injury, but his players managed to avoid any fresh knocks during the international break.

And Keane says their focus is on improving their defensive record having conceded four times in their first four Premier League fixtures of the new campaign.

“We were gutted when we conceded against Wolves. We were quite unlucky with the first goal but we should have done better on the second,” he added.

“If you look at how we have been defending over the long run, we will get back to that. It is something we are all very proud of, not just as defenders.”
