As Mexico began training for their friendlies against Costa Rica and Chile, details for their November friendlies started to come out.

According to Marca, El Tri are expected to play two games against Argentina, the first of which will take place in El Monumental – the home of River Plate.

The second match would take place in San Juan, where the Albiceleste are known to be lethal. There, in 2016, in a World Cup Qualifier against Colombia, Argentina thrashed Colombia 3-0 behind a goal and a pair of assists from Lionel Messi.

Mexico originally planned to face Brazil in Spain and then another European opponent, but they had trouble securing a friendly against a worthwhile adversary.

These will be a pair of very curious friendlies, as both nations are going through a very tumultuous time after suffering disappointing round-of-16 exits in Russia.

Each side doesn’t currently have a permanent manager and are likely to continue experimenting with extremely young squads.

The two sides last faced one another in 2015 in the United States, where Argentina stormed back with a pair of late goals to draw El Tri 2-2.
