Mexico have reportedly set December 10 as the date they will appoint the new coach of the national team.

The Mexican Football Federation intend to have Juan Carlos Osorio’s successor in place before 2019, with the selected date just two days after the MLS final, the league in which the main candidate for the job, Gerardo Martino, is currently coaching in.

The former Barcelona boss is in charge of Atalanta United who currently lead the Eastern Conference and has been tipped for the Mexico job.

Martino, born in Argentina, has managed his country as well as Paraguay and so is no stranger to international football.

According to David Medrano, writing in his column for the newspaper Record, December 10 is the day of the announcement with Yon de Luisa and Guillermo Cantú in charge of choosing the new coach.

Mexico, currently being coached by Ricardo Ferretti on an interim basis, reached the last 16 of the World Cup in the summer.
