Reportedly wanted by Wednesday’s opponents and also linked with Marseille, Benatia was told by Juve he would not be leaving this month.

Despite being handed a chance against Bologna in the Coppa Italia, he had to pull out after picking up a groin injury in the warm-up, denying him a run in the team.

“Benatia got hurt with a groin inflammation in the warm-up, so he won’t take part,” Allegri said. “We’re already without Andrea Barzagli, but hope to have Joao Cancelo back.

“Wednesday is a one-off match, we already lost to them before on penalties, so hope to at least not go through extra time and penalties. We’re ready to play.”

The two sides will meet in Jeddah in the Italian showpiece with 22 points currently separating the two sides in the Serie A table.
