Senior figures at Chelsea have reportedly held talks over the future of Maurizio Sarri.
Sarri has struggled to turn the Blues fortunes around in his first eight months in charge at Stamford Bridge, with their defeat to Everton at the weekend seeing them slip to sixth in the table.
Rumours have surrounded the Italian’s job ever since their 6-0 defeat at Manchester City in February, however it was thought that their performance in the EFL Cup final later in the month and a relative upturn in results would see the veteran coach stay on.
Sky Sports though have revealed on Tuesday that board members in west London have been in discussions regarding Sarri’s role as manager.
They claim that the Chelsea hierarchy are “concerned and disappointed” with the team’s performances this season and could make a change at the end of the campaign.
Chelsea have been drawn against Slavia Prague in the Europa League quarter-finals, with that competition looking like their only route into the Champions League next term.
