Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has hailed the impact of Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Callum Hudson-Odoi against Wolves on Saturday.

Both players were introduced as second-half substitutes at Stamford Bridge, helping the Blues rescue a point against resolute opposition.

Loftus-Cheek and Hudson-Odoi have found opportunities hard to come by under Sarri, but the former Napoli boss was quick to highlight their bright performances.

“We brought Loftus-Cheek on because, in my opinion, we needed more physical impact in the opposition box,” he told reporters.

“Then Hudson-Odoi because it was impossible to change our match in that moment, so we needed someone strong in one against one.

“We also changed our system for the first time this season, and played 4-2-3-1 for the last 20 minutes,” the Italian added.

“The boys made a difference because the problem wasn’t the system, but our way of playing.

“We need to move the ball faster. We cannot play five or six touches in that situation. It’s very difficult to score if you do.”

Chelsea face Dynamo Kyiv in their Europa League round of 16 second-leg clash on Wednesday, before travelling to Everton on March 17.
