Next week is set to be ‘decisive’ for negotiations between Maurizio Sarri and Chelsea over succeeding fellow Italian Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge.
Italian journalist Matteo Pedrosi reported on that the former Napoli manager is first choice for owner Roman Abramovich and that the pursuit may conclude next week.
While Pedrosi says that Sarri already has eyes on bringing his former assistant coach Giovanni Martusciello with him to London, there appears to be a snag in the ‘Conte situation’.
Chelsea are reportedly looking at how to remove Conte from his management position without paying the full compensation – the Italian’s contract that runs until 2019.
