Matthijs de Ligt has finally completed his €75m move to Juventus, making him the fourth most expensive teenager ever.
But where does he slot into a team of the most expensive players yet to exit their teens?
Atlético Madrid to Manchester United, €25m (2011)
The most expensive teenage goalkeeper of all-time is still at Manchester United now, eight years, one Premier League title and four player of the season awards later.
Porto to Manchester United, €22m (2018)
At right-back we have Diogo Dalot.
He’s made a decent start to life in Manchester but the jury is still out on the Portuguese after one season at Old Trafford.
Ajax to Juventus, €75m (2019)
The most expensive teenage defender ever, Matthijs de Ligt is now a Juventus player.
And, honestly, we don’t think anybody believes this will be anything less than a huge success.
Roma to PSG, €31.4m (2014)
A brilliant defender, a reliable midfielder, a superb signing from Roma back in 2014.
Southampton to Manchester United, €37.5m (2014)
Things haven’t gone to plan for Luke Shaw at Manchester United. A horrible leg break, then turmoil under José Mourinho.
It all picked up in 2018/19, though, and there’s still time to turn it around.
Porto to Manchester United, €31.5m (2007)
Our first ‘flop’ in the team.
Anderson was once a Golden Boy winner, no wonder Manchester United spent so much on him. But what a grave error that turned out to be.
Benfica to Bayern Munich, €35m (2016)
And another miss in midfield.
Renato Sanches failed to convince at Bayern, then was poor on loan at Swansea, then failed to make the grade at Bayern again.
Borussia Dortmund to Chelsea, €64m (2019)
A move from this summer, time will tell how well Pulisic does at Stamford Bridge.
Benfica to Atlético Madrid, €126m (2019)
Another one from this summer and the second most expensive teenager ever!
Replacing Antoine Griezmann, though? That’s quite the task.
Borussia Dortmund to Barcelona, €125m (2018)
Asked to replace Neymar, injuries have broken up Dembélé’s time at Barcelona so far.
The Frenchman could prove himself yet but time is running out.
AS Monaco to PSG, €135m (2017)
After exploding onto the scene with Monaco, Mbappé agreed to become the second most expensive player ever when he joined PSG.
Just 87 games later, he’s scored 60 times. We think everyone should be happy with this move.
