Saint-Étienne’s Mathieu Debuchy has been nominated alongside Neymar for the Ligue 1 player of the month award.
The Arsenal flop has unbelievably got himself back in contention for a World Cup place with the French national team.
The 32-year-old defender has scored two goals – one on his debut and a last-gasp equalizer against rivals Lyon – and his side are unbeaten in the five matches he’s featured in.
“I’ve worked hard. I try to do my job as well as possible,” Debuchy told the Ligue 1 Show on beIN SPORTS.
“Even though I didn’t play much at Arsenal, I worked hard every day.
“My team-mates are helping me a lot and I feel good in this squad. I’ve got everything I need to feel good and play well.”
