Through 19 games, leeds United have a bit of a comfortable margin in the race for Premier League promotion. The Lilywhites are currently in second place on 40 points, five points ahead of chasers Fulham.

However, Leeds have only scored 28 times – a total that has them tied for seventh in the Championship. Luckily, Leeds have, by far, the league’s best defence thanks to superior defending from Brighton loanee Ben White and Kiko Casilla’s 10 clean sheets.

Leeds were on just 36 points at this time last year and Mateusz Klich believes their attack must improve in order to legitimise themselves.

“We need to score more goals,” said Klich.

“We have chances and we have to score more goals, that’s the only thing because we are dominating almost every game and we have a lot of possession and a lot of chances and we need to score more goals.”

After finishing third and bowing out in the play-offs, Klich was asked what Leeds need to do in order to gain promotion this time around.

The Polish international reiterated his point. “We just need to score more goals.

“That’s the only thing because we are playing better than almost every team and sometimes the opponent has two chances and they scored two goals and we have 12 chances and we can’t score so that’s the only thing.

“We have got nine (actually 10) clean sheets so everything else is okay.”

Leeds will have a decent chance to earn another three points on Saturday when they play away at Huddersfield Town.
