Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri played down Mario Mandžukić’s injury after leading his team to the Supercoppa Italiana on Wednesday evening.
Allegri’s side beat AC Milan 1-0 in Jeddah thanks to a Cristiano Ronaldo goal.
Soon after the game, the attention turned to the weekend and the return of Serie A. Speaking about Mario Mandžukić, who missed Wednesday’s game through injury, Allegri rubbished reports the forward could miss a number of months.
“Is the Mandžukić injury more serious than expected? That has already been denied,” Allegri told reporters.
“I do not know where the reports came from, they made me angry. It was quite a quiet moment and, then, even I laughed.
“I’ll see him when we return tomorrow and I hope he’s better.”
Mandžukić reacted to the reports himself on social media before the game.
“Working hard to get back with my team-mates in a couple of weeks, meanwhile, they are their biggest fan – good luck for tonight!”, the Croatian posted on social media.
Mandžukić has been crucial for Juventus so far this season, scoring match-winning goals in wins against Serie A rivals Roma, Inter and Napoli.
