Martin Ødegaard has hit it big at Real Sociedad this season and is one of their main threats heading into his side’s Copa del Rey quarter-final clash against parent club Real Madrid.

Ødegaard’s performances have left many wondering whether or not he will be recalled early from his two-year loan, but the Norway international has re-iterated that this season’s success does not change anything.

“That’s the plan, nothing has changed, nothing at all. I’m very happy here and I’m focused on the present,” said Ødegaard.

“I think we completed a very good performance in La Liga, especially during the first 40 minutes before they got the lead, we have to play like that for 90 minutes and if we do that I think we can win.

“This is the quarter-finals, a very special game. We’re all very excited and we want to advance to the next round. It’d be a dream to achieve something big in the Copa del Rey.”

Ødegaard also heaped the praise on Zinedine Zidane and insisted that the two continue to have a strong bond.

“We have a good relationship, I learned a lot from him. He’s a great coach and knows a lot about football. I’m happy for him because he’s doing very well.”

The 21-year-old, who is on the Madrid books until 2023, has contributed five goals and eight assists in 23 games in all competitions this season.
