Martin Dúbravka hails Newcastle support after Leicester win

Martin Dúbravka has praised the Newcastle fans’ commitment following their 1-0 win over Leicester on Friday.

Ayoze Pérez scored a superb header to seal all three points, ensuring the 3,000 travelling supporters went home happy.

Dúbravka admits the reception gave him “goosebumps” and that the desire to succeed is always for those in the stands.

“It was unbelievable to have that support from the away fans,” he told the Chronicle. “We know we didn’t deserve to lose against Crystal Palace.

“However, the fans have stuck behind us and when you have two or three thousand people supporting you at an away game, that is something special.

“I had goosebumps in the first half and when we were standing in front of them at full-time,” the Slovakian added.

“You can see the connection between the players and the fans and we really appreciate it.

“I’m glad they have great reasons to celebrate and hope we can give them more.”

The Magpies host Southampton on April 20 as they hope to cement their top-flight status next season.
