And according to one report on Sunday, Pep Guardiola has surprisingly turned to Southampton youngster Mario Lemina.

The Gabon international only joined the Saints 12 months ago, and expectations were high having starred for Juventus and signed as the club’s record transfer.

However, the 24-year-old disappointed in his debut Premier League season and could only contribute one goal and one assist in the entire campaign.

The Manchester Evening News though, insists this hasn’t put off City who are keen to see him come to the Etihad before the window shuts in early August.

It’s suggested that Lemina could be available for a fee in the region of €25m.
