Hélder Costa’s immediate impact at Leeds United has not exactly been as fruitful as one would have thought during the summer, but manager Marcelo Bielsa believes the 25-year-old is just taking time to settle in.

Costa has featured in all 16 of Leeds’ matches this season and has been filling in for Pablo Hernández as the Spaniard recovers from injury.

However, Leeds have only scored four times in the six matches Hernández has missed, but Bielsa feels as if Costa will be able to fill in once he adapts to his surroundings.

“Helder had two kinds of situations: when he was outside close to the line, especially on the right, and when he went to the middle behind number nine.

“Pablo also feels this characteristic. He can communicate passes in the right and we can add with Helder we have more one-v-one dribble.

“The central position in the middle, that is one need in our team, Pablo finds this kind of ball more naturally.

“Helder is still in an adaptation process. Teams and players need habits you can get from playing.”

Leeds will look to go back into the top two this weekend when they host QPR.
