Manchester United will reportedly offer Paul Pogba a massive pay rise in an attempt to convince the midfielder to stay this summer.

Speaking over the weekend, Pogba dropped a huge indication that he is ready to quit United when he told reporters in Tokyo that it’s “time for a new challenge”.

Real Madrid and former club Juventus are both thought to be interested in signing the Frenchman, who moved to Old Trafford for a then-world record breaking £89m transfer in 2016.

But the Red Devils are determined to keep hold of Pogba and according to the Daily Mail, the 26-year-old will be offered a new contract which would see his weekly wage increased from £290k-a-week to £500k-a-week.

The World Cup winner still has two years left to run on his current deal and United have the option to extend it by a further year.

The Mail claim Real Madrid have already made a £90m offer to sign him but if they do sell, United are hoping to make a profit and will hold out for a much higher figure.

Ed Woodward – the club’s executive vice-chairman – is understood to be determined to keep hold of Pogba due to the player’s high commercial value, but manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his coaches are said to be less concerned about his potential departure.

Towards the end of last season, an anonymous member of Solskjaer’s backroom staff was quoted as telling the Mail that they “have a problem with Pogba almost every day”.
